LUC Courses: Using online Catalogs

OhioLINK & Library (OPAL) Catalogs

First navigate to the library webpage:

from the main university page, click on the hamburger menu at the top right

Click on Resources, then click on Library

Scroll down until you see the two catalog options under Library Links

Starting with the library's main catalog (OPAL Catalog), you will notice that you can search in the same way you do for a database.

See the Database tab above.

Most students already know the title or at lease the subject of a book they want.

Searching for the title is easy. Just click on the Title tab at the top above the search box, then type the title you are looking for.

If you only want to see what is at the library here at Lourdes, no need to change anything. Just click search, and the results will appear, telling you how many copies the library has.

Click on the item that looks like what you want. I'm selecting #1 because I want the novel.

This is an ebook, but I want a print book. It appears the library at Lourdes doesn't have the print version. So now it's time to look in OhioLINK!

OhioLINK Catalog

To navigate to OhioLink, there are several options.

1. Scroll up to the top of the page, and click. on the OhioLINK button

OR

2. You can go back to the library's main page and scroll down to find the OhioLINK catalog.

I find it easier to use option #1, because I won't have to do the search from the beginning.

When you click on the Ohio link button shown above, you will see results for the book from all participating libraries.

After you find the book you want, click the Request It button

A popup box will appear.

click the dropdown menu arrow and select Lourdes University.

click "Submit Above Information"

Fill in all the information. The barcode is the number at the bottom of your student ID.

Click Submit.

You will get a notification when the book arrives.
