Nursing : Databases

Resources on nursing theorists found in the library and on the Web.

Database basics

AND = combines several terms and gives fewer results

OR = combines several terms and gives more results

NOT = eleminates terms in search results

  • Add quotation marks around terms with more than one word

ex: "diabetes mellitus"

  • Add an asterisk at the end of a truncated (partial) word. The database will search a wide combination of terms such as: nursing, nurses, etc.

ex: nurs*

You can "explode" the term to select further subject headings

Let's include Drug therapy from the exploded headings options.

Then scroll up and click on "Add to search"

Now search for NSAID in the same way you searched for Gout.

Now narrow in the filter section to WOMEN and then also select age range as needed.
